RESPONSIBILITIES: The School of Education invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track faculty position as Assistant or Associate Professor of Sport Management. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to design curriculum, teach (face-to-face and online) a wide variety of sport management and related courses (including coaching and leadership), assist with the establishment of internship opportunities for undergraduate students, and supervise internships. S/he will provide strong academic advisement, conduct socially significant research, and pursue external funding to support initiatives. The Assistant/Associate Professor will: provide service to the internal and external University community, including the profession of Sport Management. S/he will serve on University and School of Education committees; maximize opportunities to initiate growth in and secure internal and external grant funding; and perform other duties within the scope of the position as assigned by the supervisor and/or Dean.
QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in Sport Management or related discipline is required. Candidates should possess a minimum of three years of teaching experience (college level teaching preferred). Coaching experience (college or professional preferred); coaching certifications preferred; active engagement in Sport Management and professional coaching associations preferred; experience advising, recruiting, and retaining students; experience developing curriculum and facilitating programmatic growth; supervisory experience with interns. Evidence of research and grant writing skills, knowledge of issues, concepts, and processes in the following disciplinary areas of Sport Management: (1) finance, (2) law, (3) communications, (4) ethics, (5) leadership, (6) sociology, (7) marketing, and (8) facility management.
SALARY: Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
