Position Summary:
Primary responsibility of the faculty member will be to supervise and assist law students with direct client representation, case management, client interviewing and counseling, fact investigation, legal research, and oral and written advocacy.

Job Duties:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following functions, which are not listed in any particular order of significance:
  • Teach at least one course each semester, which includes providing classroom instruction, timely written feedback on assignments, and individual academic counseling on progress towards course learning objectives.
  • Work closely with students inside and outside of the classroom, while maintaining professionalism and appropriate demeanor that encourages learning.


Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Law degree required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be in good standing and licensed in the Oregon State Bar and/or possess the ability to waive into the Oregon State Bar under reciprocity rules.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for student success, and an ability to be empathetic towards students with academic challenges.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work independently as well as establish and maintain harmonious relations with staff, faculty, students and professionals in the community regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic status, ethnicity, job status, or other background.
  • Proficient in the use of computer for word processing and electronic communication.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new software.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse colleagues, students, and community members, and actively engaging in learning and practicing the principles of equity, inclusion, and diversity.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience in an ABA-accredited law school.
  • At least three years' experience as a licensed attorney in the practice of law, which experience must have involved the preparation and editing of high-quality legal work product, is preferred.


Typical Work Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm.


Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
  • Standard office/classroom environment.
