Position Summary:

The Outreach Specialist position is for a creative, enthusiastic individual who is able to represent the All of Us research program in community settings, prepare a range of audiences for making informed decisions about the participation in UW-sponsored research including All of Us and promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. The Outreach Specialist is expected to utilize local community knowledge and practice- based evidence to inform, plan and conduct responsible outreach activities designed to grow partnerships in support of the All of Us Research Program at UW. This includes serving as the AoU UW (MSN) Community Advisory Board (CAB) liaison, ensuring CAB members are kept updated about AoU program achievements and opportunities, working closely with the CAB Chairperson to ensure meeting agendas/meeting follow-up activities occur and, in collaboration with ICTR Fiscal, ensure CAB incentives are processed in a timely manner.

Ability to work some nights and weekend events, as needed, is necessary. Travel to multiple Dane County/SE Wisconsin locations is required. Incumbent must provide own transportation that meets UW-Madison Risk Management standards for which mileage traveled will be reimbursed through project resources at the current state level.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's Degree required. Human Services, Social Work, or related field preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

The ideal candidate for this position will work with considerable independence on a flexible schedule while maintaining the open communication necessary for serving as a member of an active and diverse team operating in Milwaukee and Dane Counties. This position requires a broad skill set centered on cultural awareness, group dynamics and fundamental understanding about the research process and research activities, especially regarding recruitment/retention of participants.

REQUIRED
- A minimum of 10 years of post- degree outreach related professional work experience.
- Prior experience working successfully with local healthy living and/or community coalitions.
- Proficiency in meeting facilitation and coaching skills for community work.
- Social skills and knowledge necessary to navigate diverse community settings and networks, and ability to communicate community assets, priorities and needs to diverse academic (researchers, research staff, staff in research support offices) and community partners (lay public, corporate health partners, advocacy organizations).
- Exceptional knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques related to designing and utilizing effective engagement strategies, including ability to skillfully ask key questions to facilitate understanding of other perspectives as well as models of operating (in on- and off-campus settings and with All of Us Research teammates), and present knowledgeable perspectives and evidence to support informed decision making about research and/or academic partner activities.
