Position Summary:

Under the general supervision and direction of the Department Chair, this position is an academic department administrator that serves as a resource for the Art Department. As the leader of a team of administrative professionals, this position will be responsible for managing daily financial, human resources (HR) and office management activities while providing excellent customer support to faculty, staff, and students. This position will take ownership in developing and monitoring annual and summer budgets to help the department meet its mission and vision, ensuring continuity of daily operations by managing payroll and benefits for the department as a whole, and collaborating with other research and academic units to maintain compliance with state, university, and federal laws.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A Bachelor's degree is required for this position.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Minimum two years' management and team leadership experience.
Demonstrated experience in performance management, process improvement, training and development, and staff recruitment preferred.
Knowledge of managing multilayered budgets and financial operations in complex regulatory environments; working experience with state/UW systems preferred.
Experience in establishing and sustaining collaborative working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups; experience working with university faculty/staff and students preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Commitment to diversity, inclusion and engagement applied to areas of higher education administration, the Arts and customer service.
