The Department of Urology at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Urologist at the Assistant Professor level for a part-time, three day per week clinical assignment.

Background. The University of Florida (UF) Department of Urology at UF Health Shands Hospital is a tertiary referral center that serves the population of north central Florida, southern Georgia and surrounding communities. The candidate would join the department, which has 20 full-time and part-time urologists who support general, endourology, urologic oncology, female, pediatric, male-infertility and reconstructive urologic surgery. In addition, the candidate would have the opportunity for a joint appointment at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. The University of Florida is ranked 6th in the top public schools in the nation. UF College of Medicine is one of 16 colleges within the university and these additional colleges provide an environment rich in cross departmental collaborations. In 2020, research funding at the UF College of Medicine exceeded $310M.

Clinical . We are seeking a candidate with broad experience in treatments as applied to general urologic conditions. We are primarily seeking candidates whose clinical focus is coverage of both office and surgical treatment of general, and small urologic cases. The candidate would join a robust multidisciplinary team of physicians including fellowship-trained endourologists, reconstruction specialists, urologic oncologists, and pediatric urologists. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to serve as a mentor and teacher for UF urology fellows, residents and medical students from UF Health Shands Hospital at the UF College of Medicine. Additional resources including four daVinci robotics, UroNav MRI-US fusion prostate biopsy technology, urologic oncology nurse navigator as well as nine shared mid-level providers to support the candidate’s clinical practice.

Research. For those candidates with a keen interest in pursuing research as part of their academic career, the UF College of Medicine is a superb location to practice as it offers excellent intramural funding opportunities in addition to traditional government funding mechanisms. In 2020, NIH funding at the UF College of Medicine exceeded $100M. Protected time for research is available for qualified candidates who receive research funding. Mentorship from experienced faculty members will be provide for candidates without prior independent research experience and/or funding. Strong interest and participation in clinical trials is required and will be conducted in conjunction with the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute and UF Cancer Center.
