Job Summary

This person will serve as the insurance co-coordinator for both the Auburn University International Students and Scholars Office and the AU Graduate Student Health Insurance program.

Both of these programs are mandatory for AU foreign national students, scholars and their dependents. This person will also cross-train in handling other insurance products including faculty/staff emergency travel insurance and student program trip cancellation insurance.

Essential Functions

This person has a variety of duties including, but not limited to:

1. Student health insurance enrollment and billing.

2. Explanation of benefits to clients.

3. Communications with clients regarding claims procedures.

4. Assisting clients to obtain due benefits from the insurance carrier.

5. Communicate with the insurance carrier regarding problems, changes in policy and accuracy in benefit documentation.

6. Work with various groups on campus regarding program administration in addition to the Office of International Programs and the Graduate School.

Minimum Skills and Abilities

The ability to effectively communicate; excellent interpersonal skills; attention to detail; ability to patiently interact with clientele; strong customer service skills; ability to comprehend insurance documents explaining benefits, policies, and premium calculations; accounts receivable experience.

Minimum Technology Skills

Proficiency in computer applications. Solid knowledge of various database and software programs.

Minimum License and Certifications

Desired Qualifications

Additional education beyond high school and experience in the healthcare industry is desired. Experience with Banner is also desired.
