The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Lynchburg invites applications for a full-time (12 month) tenure-track assistant/associate professor level faculty position to begin Fall of 2021.
Position:
The ideal candidate should have experience teaching a variety of content to entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students. Additionally, candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues. Responsibilities for this faculty position, in addition to teaching, will include advising students, providing service to the program and University, and performing scholarly activities.
University and Program:
The University of Lynchburg is a private liberal arts institution located in Central Virginia in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The University is ranked in the top 20 of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Regional Universities (South), and is recognized by Princeton Review as one of the “Best-Run Colleges” in the United States.
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is part of the College of Health Sciences with opportunities for inter-professional experiences with a variety of other health science programs. Clinical practice is promoted among faculty and opportunities exist within the onsite free clinic. The Program received initial accreditation in 2013 and is scheduled for re-review in 2028.
Required Qualifications:
-
Experience teaching entry-level
content to DPT students
A minimum of three years of
contemporary physical therapy clinical practice
Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills
Licensed or eligible for licensure as
a physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia (Virginia
licensure is expected within one year of employment)
A scholarly agenda that contributes
to teaching and/or practice
Membership in the American Physical
Therapy Association
An earned academic doctoral degree
(e.g. PhD, EdD, DSc, or DHSc); candidates approaching
completion of a terminal academic degree will also be
considered
Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in faculty teams
for teaching, service, and scholarship
ABPTS Certification
Evidence of cultural competence in
teaching, teamwork, and leadership ability
