Full-time/Part-time Full-Time Position Type Administration Job Summary/Basic Function

The Director of TRIO Student Support Services ( TRIO SSS ) oversees the day to day management, operations and coordination of TRIO SSS . This includes the supervision of the SSS staff members. The Director’s primary responsibility is to meet the objectives of the College’s TRIO SSS grant and ensure compliance with federal regulations and to coordinate all TRIO academic and non-academic support activities. Direct support services to students in the program are also provided by the Director.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Minimum of three years’ experience working with college students
• Minimum of three years’ of management and supervisory experience with strong leadership and human relations skills
• Direct experience in the areas of grant management, program assessment, data collection, data analysis, documentation of services provided, educational “best practices” in student development, and/or effective collaboration with internal and external constituents.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in educational administration or related to student development
• Teaching experience with college or high school students
• Working with at-risk young adults, students with disabilities and first generation college students
• Career testing and interpretation skills
• Experience designing and managing education programs
• Previous experience coordinating a TRIO program or other federally funded project such as Perkins or Title III

Months Per Year 12 Hours Worked Per Week 40 Work Schedule Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break. Supervision Exercised

Supervises the SSS Academic Specialist, Assistant Director of TRIO SSS and SSS Program Coordinator, and interns

Supervision Received

Works under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Transfer & Advising.

Ensure that accurate and timely TRIO grant reporting is submitted to the appropriate Federal agency.

Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate TRIO personnel.

Provide leadership and promotion on both campuses for TRIO and academic support services, coordinate services needed for participants and advocate for students and their needs.

Job Duty

Ensure collaboration between TRIO SSS and the Financial Aid Office occurs for the selection and disbursement of grant aid awards, to determine of low income eligibility for students served and work to provide financial literacy education and tools for TRIO students.

Job Duty

Maximize utilization of college resources by TRIO student participants. Promote coordination and communication at both campuses and within the program and academic support in general.

Job Duty

Promote student success by evaluating existing services and developing new services as appropriate.

Job Duty

Participate in college committees and events to maintain a high profile for academic support of students.

Job Duty

Develop and monitor the TRIO program budget; ensure needed financial documentation.

Job Duty

Secure TRIO SSS program support by building and maintaining communications with faculty, administration, student services, and other college teams and cross-functional groups.

Job Duty

Ensure accurate data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and reporting to faculty and administration on the effectiveness of retention programs.

Job Duty

Provide leadership, supervision, and mentoring to the staff and programs in the Student Success Center at West Campus.

Job Duty

Identify and secure campus resources and other necessary materials for academic support services and TRIO .

Job Duty

Engage in marketing activities to promote TRIO and the Student Success Center and its programs to students, faculty, and administration, as well as to the community.

Job Duty

Develop and direct the student support strategies for TRiO students (communications, interventions, and services) assigned to students based on their predictive analytics assessment.

Job Duty

Ensure accurate recordkeeping and confidentiality for all program activities and participants.

Job Duty

Promote a positive, student-centered, success-oriented atmosphere.

Job Duty

Coordinate in-take procedures and program eligibility activities.

Job Duty

Assist in the development of the TRIO grant services for inclusion into the grant proposal at time of renewal.
