About the Opportunity:
The Bouve College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University is seeking outstanding individuals to fill a full-time, non-tenure-track, Assistant Teaching Professor position in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Responsibilities:
The position is based in Boston, Massachusetts. The main responsibility -of the Assistant Teaching Professor position is high quality student-centered teaching, including course preparation, delivery, and assessment. The annual teaching responsibility is nine courses (3-5 SH each). Course assignments may be at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the department. The courses that are taught include, but not limited to Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, and Medicinal Chemistry. Teaching responsibilities are subject to modification based on the program's needs and at the Department Chair's discretion. The person in this position reports to the Chair of the department.

Actual course load may vary with other responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Teach assigned courses and develop course content and materials, through the use of Canvas as a Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Provide service to the program/college/university. This service may include student advising, faculty mentoring, committee service, recruitment activities (e.g. open houses) and program support.

  • Participate in the curriculum development and assessment process.

  • Share course materials and related observations with other faculty members.

  • Professional development and scholarship are encouraged but there is no expectation for research productivity

    Courses are taught in multiple formats including online and asynchronous, and a hybrid synchronous modality branded as NU-Flex by Northeastern University. Using the NU-Flex methodology students can conduct coursework in an on-ground classroom environment while maintaining social distancing guidelines.

    Faculty enjoy a collegial work environment that allows for work-life balance, and are expected to be available to students, whether in-person or online. Faculty contribute to the College's mission through teaching, service and scholarship.

    Qualifications:
    Candidates must hold a PhD in Pharmaceutical Science, Medicinal Chemistry, Biomedical Sciences or related degree from an accredited institution by appointment start date. Demonstrated ability or potential for teaching excellence is required.

    Successful candidates will have demonstrated an expert grasp of knowledge of the field at all levels and be creative in their approach to teaching in an environment of cooperative, interdisciplinary, and experiential education. Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills are required in order to communicate effectively with students in person and online.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    Familiarity with latest electronic teaching tools and experiential e-learning.
