Scope of Job:
Responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive alumni program that involves recent graduates and current students. Creates opportunities for graduates and student to participate in educational, professional, social, and service oriented projects and events designed to develop an alumni leadership base and foster lifelong relationships that will lead to increased alumni support of the university.
Description of Duties:
• Develops and execute a multi-year plan to include programming, volunteer opportunities, fundraising and campus activities to engage young alumni.
• Works closely with the Division of Student Affairs, Athletics and other related divisions to promote a strategic and collaborative approach to enhance alumni and student interface and communication.
• Facilitates and maintains adequate metrics and records of student and young alumni affiliations.
• Serves as Staff Liaison for Student Government Association.
• Utilizes social media to promote association and university activities.
• Maintains a constant inclusion opportunity for alumni in support of university interests and appreciation of its mission.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
General Direction from the Director of Alumni Relations.
Direct supervision of assigned support staff.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field from an accredited university.
Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in development related field.
Experience in an institution of higher education.
Use of standard office equipment.
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; ability to work weekends and/or evenings as needed; regular travel is required within the Lower Rio Grande Valley and occasional out of town travel.
Skill in writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication. Ability to work effectively with diverse large and small groups of alumni, friends, faculty, staff, and community leaders. Strong analytical and problem solving skills on internal and external issues. Knowledge of methods utilized in program development. Knowledge of public relations practices, marketing techniques and fundraising.
