Job Summary: The Assistant of Chemistry, Department Head, will teach a full-time academic load. Courses taught will depend on departmental need and the applicant’s experience and expertise, and are likely to include:
- General inorganic and organic chemistry courses
- Quantitative analysis and elementary physical chemistry
- Additional lower- and upper-level chemistry courses
Other duties will include:
- Serve as Department Head of Chemistry and fulfill all duties assigned to department heads as outlined in the Judson College Faculty Handbook
- Prepare for and teach labs as assigned
- Adhere to laboratory safety and hazardous waste disposal standards
- Promote and mentor undergraduate student research projects
- Advise undergraduate students within the chemistry major
- Contribute professionally to the faculty, college, and community by keeping scheduled office hours, serving on college committees, and attending commencement and other college faculty activities
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in chemistry is suggested, or a Master’s degree with 18 hours of graduate applicable course work in chemistry with teaching experience. A Ph.D. in Chemistry is preferred.
