Notre Dame of Maryland University (NDMU) is a private, independent institution anchored in the lovely Homeland neighborhood of Baltimore City. NDMU is looking for a dynamic Director of Athletics to lead our competitive NCAA Division III program. As a member of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC), NDMU has nine women's intercollegiate sports teams. The Director of Athletics is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive intercollegiate athletics program and fitness program. The Director is an active member of the Student Life Team and reports to the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs. Recruiting excellent student athletes and assisting with campus-wide student retention efforts is a priority for the Division of Athletics.
The new Director of Athletics will continue to develop and support our intercollegiate sports teams. The Volleyball program has won the CSAC Championship in 2019 and 2020. Lacrosse was Conference Champion in 2019. The coaching staff and campus community will look to the Director of Athletics as a visible and supportive leader who demonstrates athletics prowess, community engagement, and academic excellence.
Knowledge: Master’s degree in sports management, education administration, or related field. Must have knowledge of NCAA Division III regulations and an understanding of the relationship between a liberal arts education and athletics.
Experience : Five years athletic administrative experience preferred. Coaching, teaching and fitness programming experience preferred. Fundraising experience desirable.
Skills/Aptitude: Must have proven administrative and management skills, along with strong leadership and communication skills. Strong initiative and ability to effectively manage multiple long and short term strategies, programs, and objectives.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Will involve evenings and weekend commitments. This is a full-time, 12 month position.
