Position Title Associate Athletic Director for M/W Hockey Overview

Provide leadership, management, and administrative oversight to the men’s and women’s ice hockey programs, as well as day-to-day supervision of Schneider Arena programs and events. Responsible for compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations.

Essential Duties:

1. Oversee and manage all facets of the men’s and women’s ice hockey programs. Provide leadership and guidance to head coaches and staff members regarding all aspects of team/program management. Monitor and oversee the day-to-day team operations consistent with College, HOCKEY EAST Conference, and NCAA policies. Conduct annual performance review for women’s ice hockey coach and program audits for both men’s and women’s hockey. Assist coaches in the recruitment process, and review and evaluate senior exit surveys. Negotiate and approve contracts for non-conference, intercollegiate contests. Provide insight and guidance in the budget development process. Actively engage in fundraising; represent men’s and women’s ice hockey at all HOCKEY EAST Conference meetings; develop and cultivate relationships with alumnae of both sports; and participate in the development of annual marketing campaigns. Monitor and assist in the development of men’s ice hockey season ticket program. Supervise and plan the coordination of all aspects of tournament participations.

2. Responsible for the overall operation and strategic vision of Schneider Arena. Ensure efficient and fiscally sound administration of the facility, as well as the hockey programs. Serve as the primary administrative liaison with internal and external users of the facility, including other College departments, student organizations, and rental groups. For select events, may serve as the event coordinator and coordinate assistance from other College departments, as needed. Create, control, monitor, and analyze revenue and expenses; develop, monitor, and oversee personnel and operating budgets; and approve overtime for non-exempt employees as needed. Interpret and enforce policies, procedures, and protocols for internal and external users.

3. Serve as a member of the Athletic Department senior executive team. Actively engage and partner with the Vice President for Athletics/Athletic Director and the executive team to set direction and priorities, identify issues, provide feedback, develop ideas, and offer solutions to address not only issues regarding Schneider Arena and the hockey programs, but also for the entire department.

4. Oversee, review and revise equipment room systems, practices and policies as necessary. Meet regularly with the equipment specialists to monitor the day-to-day operation of the equipment room. Provide approval of all equipment purchase orders and develop and monitor equipment room operating budget. Provide regular and consistent evaluation of the equipment room service component and perform annual performance appraisal of Equipment Managers. Develop knowledge and relationships with selected primary vendors.

5. Oversee all administrative aspects of the graduate assistant program for Athletics. Meet on a regular basis with GA’s to ensure progress toward degree coincides with term of assistantship; assist supervisors with posting and hiring process; establish relationship with graduate office personnel; assist GA’s in transition to the department; and coordinate orientation program, GA luncheons, and reunion events.

6. Serve as co-chair of the Friar Hockey Vision Teams. Cultivate strong relationships with trustees, former players, alums, donors, and friends of the program to ensure continued financial support and advocacy for men’s and women’s hockey programs.

Marginal Duties:

1. Perform all other duties as required.

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Five to seven years of athletic administration experience in college athletic program or equivalent combination of experience and training
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and management skills essential.
