Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Academic Department Manager, the University Services Program Associate (USPA) functions as the primary contact person for the department and provides critical support for the Department Chair, Department Manager and event coordination for the Communications Specialist. This detail- oriented position requires excellent administrative, organization, and communication (oral, written, and electronic) skills as well as computer proficiency. It requires considerable professionalism, confidentiality, independent initiative, sound judgement, analytic ability, and problem-solving skills.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Knowledge of UW System policies and procedures related to travel, purchasing, and event management is preferred.

Previous experience in an office environment is preferred.

Excellent time management skills and ability to work quickly and accurately with strict deadlines and under pressure.

Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently, managing and coordinating multiple complex projects and programs.

Must be able to exercise superior judgment and skill in handling sensitive and confidential matters. Must possess excellent communication skills in order to handle inquiries with diplomacy and tact. Proficiency in making a wide variety of decisions, analyzing situations, and exercising good judgment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must practice positive customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively with visitors, faculty, staff, and students.

Ability to function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.

Strong computer skills including editing documents, spreadsheets, and database management.

Proficiency in coordinating calendars, schedules and email account for others.
