Reporting directly to Senior Vice President ( SVP ), Chief Financial Officer ( CFO ), the Executive Director for Administration will lead strategic initiatives, manage ongoing programs & projects, and oversee day-to-day operations of the CFO’s Office to optimize priorities and time of the SVP / CFO .

The Executive Director for Administration will also provide senior level expertise and support to the BFAS Leadership Team. This critical position carries a high degree of visibility and requires independent judgement, close collaboration with the BFAS senior leadership team, Board of Trustees’ Office and University Leadership as directed. This individual will participate in senior level decision-making and interacts with the Senior Administrators to enhance the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer’s effectiveness in all areas of BFAS and the University.


• Bachelor’s degree required ( MBA, CPA, MPA, or other advanced degree preferred).

• Minimum of 8 years of management experience.

• Manage the daily operations of the office of SVP & CFO including problem solving and coordinating schedules. Draft and initiate correspondence and reports, gather resource information for meetings and presentations, and prepare and edit presentation materials and accompanying reports. Manage recurring senior leadership team meetings. Manage and coordinate multiple project work streams across various disciplines and stakeholders, including tracking key activities and milestones, managing deliverables to deadlines, integrating activities across work streams and surfacing project risks and concern as appropriate.

• Serve as an advisor to the SVP / CFO in planning, implementing, and monitoring strategic initiatives and projects for the division. Work with key stakeholders to ensure the strategic plan is implemented, outcomes are achieved, and the financial structure is in place. Lead and support organizational change management efforts designed to achieve strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, and business process improvement goals.

• Support management and prioritization of BFAS strategic initiatives. Management across all BFAS areas of administration to ensure that the SVP / CFO and University priorities are met in a timely, efficient and service-oriented approach. Working with the SVP / CFO and other BFAS leaders to establish clarity of priorities and following through to ensure that the priorities are being met. Assist in monitoring and annual tracking of leadership goals.

• Assist with the SVP / CFO preparation for Chancellor meetings. Provide liaison assistance to the SVP / CFO in coordinating with Chancellor Office. Preparation for meeting materials and response to the Chancellor’s Office for inquiries.

• Manage Board of Trustees’ Committee report preparation and other communications working collaboratively with the University’s Board of Trustee Office, SVP / CFO, and BFAS Leadership Team.

• Cultivate strong professional relationships and develop open lines of communications with the BFAS Leadership Team, Chancellor’s Executive Team, Faculty, and Students, and Trustees.

• Jointly, with ASVP for BFAS Operations, responsible for managing the Director of Communications, BFAS . Along with the Director of Communications, oversee communication, remarks, and presentations for the SVP / CFO . Prepare briefings and memo finalization. Support BFAS Leadership with meeting agendas, follow-up and strategic planning. Review and prioritize SVP / CFO incoming items and response correspondence. Develop and oversee a comprehensive internal and external BFAS communications plan. Take action on behalf of SVP / CFO on select items.

• Help create a high performance, service-orientated culture that is responsive to internal and external stakeholders. Contribute as a key member of the leadership team, bringing strategic operational acumen and business judgment to Syracuse University.
