Job Details
Works under the supervision of the Opportunity Program staff as a resource to all program students throughout the Summer Academic Institute. We are particularly interested in candidates from underrepresented groups that can add to the diversity and excellence of our academic program and community.
Responsibilities include: conducting nightly rounds to ensure the safety of all residents; maintaining an environment conducive to learning; providing personal, social, and academic peer counseling to students; assisting in the critical enforcement of policies, practices, and procedures; providing a reasonably safe learning environment for the students within the residence halls; encouraging students to take responsibility of their residence halls; attending regular weekly staff meetings; understand and uphold all college and Summer Academic Institute and rules, regulations, and policies; utilize an educational approach to address students regarding policies as well as the impacts of their behavior; address all policy violations immediately and consistently; mediate conflicts among residents as they arise; maintain consistency and fairness when dealing with all students in the program; assist residents in their adjustment to roommate and community living; other duties as assigned by the Opportunity Program staff. The Head Resident Advisor is required to live in the residence hall for the duration of the five-week summer program including weekends, and participate in a residential summer staff training preceding the summer program. The Head Resident Advisor will also have supervisory responsibilities and other duties as assigned by Opportunity Program staff. Salary is $3,500. Room & Board included.
Minimum Qualifications
Recent Skidmore graduate.
Preferred Qualifications
Residential Life experience. Valid driver's license.
