Job Details

A postdoctoral associate in bioactive microbial chemistry is available in the laboratory of Prof. Sandra Loesgen (www.loesgenlab.org) at the University of Florida, Department of Chemistry. This position is available initially for 12 months. The Loesgen lab is part of the Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, located in beautiful St. Augustine Florida, USA.

Our research program is focused on understanding the diversity and bioactivity of metabolites produced by microorganisms. We employ a multidisciplinary approach to isolated and identify compounds from terrestrial and marine fungi and bacteria, with an emphasis on compounds with medical application.

The postdoctoral associate will be expected to isolate and identify new small molecules from microorganisms. Expertise in these areas is required: microbiology, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, chromatographic separations, and in vitro assays (mammalian or microbial cell culture).
