Faculty - Assistant Professor Healthcare, WSB

Position Category: Faculty - Tenure Track (FT)

Summary:
Under the direction of the Chair, Department of Organizational Leadership and the Associate Dean, Woodbury School of Business, this tenure-track Assistant Professor plans, prepares, and teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses. Teaching is the heart of Woodbury's mission, so program-building in growth areas such as healthcare management is our focus. Courses created or assigned are expected to focus on existing and newly developing topics such as healthcare management, healthcare data & analytics, healthcare finance, population health, general management and ethics, or executive leadership. The successful candidate will prepare instructional materials, including examinations, course outlines, syllabus, visual aids and solicit relevant presentations from industry. Instructors in Woodbury are regularly evaluated in their instruction methods and learning outcomes through performance evaluations. The successful candidate submits accurate and current reports and records regarding student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up on student and staff inquires. May advise students during office hours as well as at other times as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation credential at the doctoral level from an accredited institution with a degree appropriate to healthcare management.
ABD applicant accepted if degree is in hand by the time classes begin. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of scholarly/creative work consistent with a AACSB accredited business school.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of relevant instructional strategies and techniques.)
  • Knowledge of student management, motivation, and evaluation (including evaluation of peer- and self-instruction).
  • Knowledge of development and assessment of curriculum and job-skill related to healthcare.
  • Advanced knowledge of subject matter including both theory and practice.
  • Experience with graduate students, and other relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Record of scholarly work or evidence of potential to publish in scholarly journals to maintain academic qualifications related to discipline-specific or pedagogical research.
  • Skills in teaching live, streaming, and online preferred.
  • Skills in developing strong relationships with the healthcare community.
  • Ability to effectively apply general principles to specific conditions.
  • Ability to follow written and oral procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with people.
  • Demonstrated ability to build or sustain healthcare management programs including but not limited to new course design, building and maintaining value-added relationships between an academic unit and the healthcare community that employs its graduates


Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred PhD or DBA from an AACSB-accredited program, or closely related field
2 years teaching healthcare or industry experience in healthcare administration at the manager level or above.
2+ years College- or university-level teaching experience


Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a normal teaching environment.
