The Edwin S.H. Leong UBC Chair in Healthy Aging – a UBC President’s Excellence Chair - The University of British Columbia

Healthy aging is both a personal and a public health issue of great importance to individuals and communities around the world. It is also a strategic research priority for the UBC Faculty of Medicine. A substantial philanthropic investment from Dr. Edwin Leong of $24-million will position the university as a Canadian leader in addressing this critical societal need. By supporting our efforts to identify and develop innovative solutions to this far-reaching issue, this investment will lead to sustained and improved health for people and communities in British Columbia, Canada, and globally.

UBC Faculty of Medicine is seeking to recruit an internationally eminent clinician/scientist (MD and/or PhD) to fill the position of the Edwin S.H. Leong UBC Chair in Healthy Aging - a UBC President’s Excellence Chair. Based in Vancouver, the Chair will be filled by an active researcher with an impeccable record of academic achievement who will provide the vision and expertise to build a world-class interdisciplinary research Program that aligns with the strategic priorities and shared vision of the donor and the Faculty of Medicine. In addition to bringing together existing UBC experts in areas of healthy aging, the Chair has resources available to recruit additional faculty and trainee positions to build the program. Combined with the expertise of the Chair, these positions will build the capacity of the Program to integrate an approach to research with the potential to transform our understanding of healthy aging.
