Duties and Responsibilities

Associate Degree Nursing Faculty Member

Teaching:
Participates in the development and evaluation of the ASN and/or BSN program
Develops, teaches, and evaluates assigned courses
Evaluates student performance on exams and course assignments
Evaluates student performance in the clinical environment; including skills lab and simulation lab
Assumes responsibility for serving as a course coordinator, as appropriate
Coordinates clinical rotation with clinical agency and clinical adjuncts
Teaches 12 credits per semester, includes theory, clinical, skills lab and simulation lab
Participate in ongoing course and curriculum revision

Service:
Provides engaged service at the programmatic, School, University and community levels
Participates in course and programmatic assessment activities
Participates in community and professional activities
Participates in student recruitment and retention activities
Advises currently enrolled and perspective students

Scholarship:
Maintains appropriate scholarly and professional development activities
Provides expertise in the area of medical-surgical nursing

Leadership:
Contributes to the continuing innovation and development of the programs in the School of Nursing
Participates in the assessment, evaluation, and accreditation of the School of Nursing programs and the University
Participates in, manage, or lead projects within the School of Nursing, and University as requested.
Serve as course coordinator when appointed to do so.

Performs related duties as necessary and as assigned.

Masters of Science in Nursing (required or near completion)
Doctoral degree in nursing preferred
Minimum of two (2) years recent experience with a focus in medical surgical nursing

License to practice as a registered professional nurse in WV is required.

Minimum of two years of teaching experience preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience as a registered nurse required.
Professional nurse with an emphasis in medical-surgical nursing preferred.

1. WV RN Licensure - Required
2. Doctoral Degree in Nursing or related field - preferred
3. Master's Degree in Nursing - preferred
4. Two years clinical nursing experiences as an RN - required
5. Experience in medical-surgical nursing - preferred
6. Professional and Scholarly achievement as defined by promotion and tenure guidelines - preferred
7. Agency health requirements compliance - required
8. Familiarity with on-line learning and Blackboard Learning Management System
9. Ability to foster student learning through innovative teaching modalities
10. Ability to develop and maintain partnerships within the University, clinical agencies, and profession
11. Commitment to the University and School of Nursing mission.
