This is a 10-month faculty position in Biological Sciences.  The primary teaching responsibilities will include Introductory Biology (Majors and/or Non-Majors courses) and Anatomy & Physiology (1-semester and/or 2 semester sequence). Faculty in this position may be required to teach other Biology courses (Human Biology, Microbiology, Nutrition) or courses in other science disciplines (such as biotechnology, chemistry etc.) as needed to support the mission and needs of the division.  This position will be located in the Mathematics and Science Division and will fulfill all responsibilities and expectations of a regular HCC faculty member.  These include but are not limited to outcomes assessment, curriculum development, overseeing adjunct faculty and college service.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  This position requires a minimum of a master’s degree in either Biology, Anatomy & Physiology or other closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate documentation of successful teaching experience at the community college/undergraduate level. A PhD in Biology or related field is a plus. Experience with grant writing is very desirable.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  Candidates should possess excellent written, oral and organizational skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, administration and community partners. Candidates should have experience with online course learning management systems (D2L, Blackboard, Canvas etc.) and online publisher based learning systems (Pearson’s Mastering, McGraw Hill Connect, WileyPlus etc.). Candidates must possess foundational skills in the laboratory and field settings and be able to convey these skills and methodologies to students. The candidate should be able to use sophisticated laboratory equipment including but not limited to: Lab-Quest Vernier probe-ware (or similar), Microscopes, instrumentation (like PCR, Spectrophotometers, chromatography, Electrophoresis etc.). Experience with faculty advising is preferred.
