Job Description

The Department of Religion and Culture at Virginia Tech ( http://liberalarts.vt.edu/rlcl) seeks a full-time Instructor in the area of Religion in the Public Sphere to begin August 2021. The appointment will be for one academic year. Area of specialization is open but the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching high-enrolling courses at the undergraduate level, and a commitment to working with and supporting diverse populations. Teaching load is 4 courses per semester (2-3 course preparations per semester). Appropriate Ph.D. must be in hand by August 2021.

High-enrolling courses the successful candidate could potentially teach include:
● RLCL 1034: Religion and the Modern World
● RLCL 1014: World Religions
● RLCL 1024: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam
● RLCL/ AFST/ WGS 2204: Race and Gender in Religion & Culture
● RLCL 2124: Religion in American Life
● RLCL/ HUM 3204: Multicultural Communication

Required Qualifications

Appropriate Ph.D. must be in hand by August 2021.
