Vice President for Communications & Marketing



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is accepting applications for the Vice President for Communications and Marketing (VPCM) which includes both internal and external communications and marketing. The VPCM reports to President and is responsible for serving as the college's primary spokesperson, elevating its level of national media visibility and developing an internal communications strategy. The VPCM oversees the college's advertising, marketing branding, and licensing programs, internal and external communications, media, and public relations functions while working closely with The Citadel Alumni Association, The Citadel Foundation, and The Citadel Brigadier Foundation. As a member of the strategic planning committee of The Citadel, the VPCM is actively involved in all stages of setting the strategic direction and implementing the goals of the institution as contained in our current strategic plan— Our Mighty Citadel 2026.

This Vice President is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all the College's strategic communications activities, oversees all college publications, coordinates the college's special events, and provides oversight of the college's website. She or he also provides oversight for media relations strategies, online technologies and promotes social media best practices in advancing the institution's reach and reputation. In addition, the VPCM helps our key constituents understand the Citadel's unique mission and articulate the goals and vision to a wider variety of audiences. The incumbent serves as liaison to the Board of Visitors Communication and Community Relations Committee.

MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least ten years of experience in the field of communications and marketing including advertising. Experience in a senior management position is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in a related field preferred. Applicable experience within an institution of higher education is highly desired.
