Position Summary:

The research enterprise in the Department of Surgical Sciences includes both clinical and basic science research by multidisciplinary research groups. This is a position within Comparative Orthopaedic and Genetics Research Laboratory, for which there are two Principal Investigators. The Comparative Orthopaedic and Genetics Research Laboratory is located in the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Research within the laboratory is focused on studies of spontaneous diseases in companion animals as models for human disease. Outside of the School, the laboratory has a long history of strong collaborative relationships with investigators in the School of Medicine, the College of Engineering, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and data science researchers in several departments across campus, as well as collaborations with other institutions and corporate entities.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BS or BA required. Preferably in animal science, biology, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, biomedical engineering.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Previous laboratory experience needed. Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
Experience with molecular biology, DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, RT-PCR, ELISA, western blotting
Experience with immunohistochemistry
Experience with histopathology and electron microscopy
Experience with experimental animal handling
