Working Title: Campus Sustainability Director Official Title: Outreach Program Manager I Employment Class: Non-Instructional Academic Staff FTE: 1.0 Compensation: $50,286 - $55,000 FLSA Status: Exempt Terms of Employment: Annual, Fixed Term-Renewable Position Summary:

The Campus Sustainability Director (CSD) serves as the key strategist and facilitator to advance UW Oshkosh’s sustainability efforts across its three campuses. The CSD is responsible for working with university leadership to develop and communicate a comprehensive long-term strategy for achieving the university’s sustainability goals. The CSD will work closely with leadership, staff, faculty, and students across campuses, colleges, divisions, and administrative units to oversee implementation of these goals and to facilitate the incorporation of sustainable principles and practices in daily operations and activities.

The CSD will be housed in the Sustainability Institute for Regional Transformations (SIRT) and will work closely and collaboratively with the Director of SIRT to advance the university’s broad vision for sustainability at UW Oshkosh. They will work closely with the Director of Facilities Management and other relevant units on campus. The CSD will report jointly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs the Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services.

Responsibilities

40% -Develops strategic planning initiatives with input from campus leaders, faculty, students, and other stakeholder groups to establish campus sustainability goals (e.g., Climate Action Plan)
-Identifies initiatives, goals, and objectives to guide implementation of these goals across the three UW Oshkosh campuses
-Creates detailed implementation plans with appropriate campus units, works with unit leaders to implement approved plans, analyzes the effectiveness and the results of implemented projects, and reports on results to university leadership

20% -Leads and oversees recommendations as they relate to resource management including, but not limited to, energy, waste, water, surplus, materials, and procurement

10% -Identifies and pursues grant funding, rebate, or other savings programs

20% -Ensures that campus and external commitments are reported on and met (e.g., AASHE STARS reporting)

10% -Assembles and leads sustainability advisory bodies like the Campus Sustainability Council

-Works closely with SIRT staff and other relevant units (e.g., Biogas Program, Environmental Studies) to leverage sustainability advances in campus operations to support research and teaching, for example through the collaborative development of sustainability classes, certificates, research projects, events, and other activities
-Provides professional development or instruction focused on campus sustainability
-Provides opportunity for student research and involvement in campus sustainability issues
-Works with student groups and student government to develop and support student-led sustainability initiatives, including oversight of Green Fund projects
-Communicates internally and publicly about the university's sustainability efforts and culture

Qualifications Required:

1. Bachelor’s degree in field relevant to sustainability
2. At least 1 year experience working on sustainability initiatives
3. Experience with sustainability reporting (e.g., AASHE STARS)
4. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred:

1. Master’s degree in field or subject relevant to sustainability
2. Experience working on sustainability initiatives in higher education
3. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
4. Experience working with and supervising student employees and groups on research
projects and other activities
5. Experience coordinating and implementing sustainability efforts across units or departments
