Applications are invited for appointment as Scientific Officer/ Research Officer (several posts) in the Centre for PanorOmic Sciences (Ref: 503658), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree preferably in Structural Biology, Physics or disciplines related to Cryo-Electron Microscopy (EM), with at least 5 years’ solid experience in the research field. They should also have experience in knowledge sharing through presentations at conferences and workshops, and have up-to-date knowledge in the latest developments in the Cryo-EM methodologies, particularly for single-particle and tomography data acquisition using SerialEM. Those with expertise in the operation of transmission electron microscopes and biological sample preparation in Cryo-EM experiments would have an advantage. Applicants should have good interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent communication skills, proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, and the ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The appointees will plan and organize research activities, contribute and participate in research and development projects using Cryo-EM, manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of microscopes, and perform any other duties as assigned. Working occasionally at weekends and out of office hours may be required.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
