Assistant Professor in the area of Microbiology

Ca’ Foscari is looking for a researcher of Microbiology capable of inspiring students to become game-changers in their own fields and to make a genuine difference in the world.

Teaching: On the teaching side, the assistant professor will be involved in both basic and advanced microbiology science courses, at graduate and undergraduate levels:

- Microbiology, master's degree course in Biotechnology for the environment and sustainable development (48 hours);

- Applied Microbiology, Master's Degree Course in Environmental Sciences (48 hours).

The assigned courses may be changed by the Department according to the didactic activities approved each year.

Research: His scientific activity should contribute to the enhancement of the scientific production in microbiology sciences at the Department, while promoting international and national research projects, included interdisciplinary projects, and technological transfer activities.

In particular, knowledge is required mainly centered in the study of both prokaryotic (bacteria and archaebacteria) and eukaryotic (yeast and filamentous fungi) microorganisms involved in the processes of biodegradation / biotransformation of environmental contaminants, both organic and inorganic, as well as in the exploitation microbial catalysis processes for the biotechnological production of compounds with high added value.

The position is at the Department of Environmental Sciences, Informatics and Statistics.

The Department is engaged in multidisciplinary research, carried out by brilliant researchers in the fields of environmental systems analysis, management and modelization of environmental and informatic systems, climate studies, complexity, preservation of cultural heritage and sustainability.
