Our College of Arts, Media and Design is engaged with interdisciplinary creative scholarship, critique of established principles and processes and is comprised of a unique combination of disciplines and practices in architecture, art, design, communication, games, journalism, media, music, and theatre. Responsibilities:

The Department of Art + Design in the College of Arts, Media and Design at Northeastern University, invites applications for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor in Art History / Visual Studies to begin in August 2020. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a record of innovative pedagogy, significant published work and relevant R1 teaching experience in Art History and Visual Studies within a global context. Candidates should possess a strong interest in and capacity for delivering art history and visual study courses for our undergraduate degree programs in art and design.

This teaching position entails working with faculty across the College of Arts, Media and Design and Northeastern University to improve the relevance, rigor and quality of outcomes in our offerings. This faculty position will entail a 3+3 course load with TA support and limited service obligations. Teaching might entail a combination of on-the-ground, hybrid, and online platforms. The position is for one year.

The successful candidate will teach beginning, intermediate, and advanced level courses that survey Ancient-Medieval Art History and Renaissance-Modern Art History. The position requires the ability to address the needs of a student population that is diverse in terms of age, ethnicity, cultural background, primary language, and gender identity. The position also requires participation in one faculty meeting per month during this academic semester.

Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in art history, visual studies, or a related field. It is expected that the degree requirement will be completed by June 30, 2020. .
