Opening Details
Williams is now accepting applications for an Administrative
Assistant to support the departments of Religion and Anthropology
and Sociology. Under the supervision of the department chairs of
both units, the administrative assistant will perform a wide range
of administrative and technical duties to support these
departments.
The Religion Department offers students a range of ways to learn
about both the study of religion and specific religious traditions.
Courses in our department perform two related functions: to expose
the student to the methods and issues involved in the study of
religion as a phenomenon of psychological, sociological, and
cultural/historical dimensions; and to expose students to the
beliefs, practices, and values of specific religions.
The Department of Anthropology and Sociology aims to teach students
how to enter into the social/cultural worlds of others, how to
grasp those worlds from the viewpoints of their inhabitants, and
how to articulate those denizens’ habits of mind, worldviews, and
values to broader audiences. The department—which represents the
disciplines of Sociology, Archeology, and Anthropology—introduces
students to a variety of qualitative research methods and to
classical and contemporary theories that illuminate the contours
and contradictions of social experience.
Williams is committed to building a diverse and inclusive community
and we encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply.
Applicants should highlight relevant experience with building,
working with, and supporting a broadly diverse and international
community.
