Boston University School of Visual Arts Assistant Professor, Sculpture. Full-time position; salary commensurate with experience; excellent benefits, plus studio. Non-tenure track. Begins July 1, 2018.
The Program
Boston University seeks an Assistant Professor in Sculpture to join the faculty and teach in the BFA and MFA programs. Boston University’s Sculpture program is situated in the College of Fine Arts, and draws upon the University’s strong liberal arts environment for a comprehensive and diverse academic experience. The Sculpture program at BU encompasses a wide range of approaches, methods and skills, with an emphasis on personal expression grounded in material and technique.
Candidate
The ideal candidate demonstrates a developed ability and keen interest in teaching sculpture at all levels, with the focus on undergraduate courses. Applicants should possess drawing skills, a wide-ranging knowledge of the traditions of sculpture (clay modeling/plaster casting, welding, ceramics, woodworking, etc.), art history and theory, as well as a proven ability to teach contemporary studio practices, including digital. In addition to teaching, candidate contributes to academic advising, committee work and curriculum development.
Salary commensurate with experience. Must have an MFA, a minimum of three years teaching experience (excluding any TA positions) at the undergraduate level. The ideal candidate will have a substantive national or international exhibition record. Boston University offers a studio and excellent benefits within a vibrant city.
