General summary/purpose:

Jhpiego has partnered with the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) to staff and train their COVID-19 Mobile Vaccine workforce. Focusing on vaccine equity, Jhpiego and the BCHD are committed to focused, culturally responsive outreach to ensure access to and acceptance of COVID-19 vaccine by all Baltimoreans through strategic implementation of mobile vaccine clinics. The COVID-19 Mobile Vaccine program engages Baltimore City community members, ambassadors, and leaders to bring culturally responsive COVID-19 vaccine to priority populations through mobile clinics while also working to address vaccine acceptance and uptake among these groups throughout Baltimore.

The Baltimore City COVID-19 Data Entry Clerk will be responsible for accurate and timely documentation and data entry, records maintenance and management, and tracking key data elements from multiple data sources and streams, in support of Baltimore City’s COVID-19 vaccination program. This entry-level position will support the VALUE (Vaccine Access and Acceptance Lives in Unity, Education and Engagement) Communities Team, which aims to ensure equitable COVID-19 vaccine distribution across Baltimore; and the Mobile Vaccine Team, which enables access to and uptake of COVID-19 by bringing vaccine closer to Baltimore City communities through the provision of mobile vaccination clinics. The Data Entry Clerk will support both teams as needed, entering a variety of data using current technologies, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of data entry to facilitate the operations of both teams, and reporting progress towards team objectives. Under the supervision of Jhpiego and the Baltimore City Health Department, the Data Entry Clerk is expected to engage with counterparts, community members, and other stakeholders in the COVID-19 response in Baltimore City in a professional manner. This position will assist with data entry for mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics for VALUE communities, focused initially on older adult and homeless populations and rolling out to other populations as vaccine eligibility criteria expands.

This is a temporary position funded through February 2022. This position is primarily remote, although there may be infrequent need to visit or work from the mobile sites.

Specific duties & responsibilities:

  • Accurately input a variety of data into computer database using current technologies and tools such as REDCap and Microsoft Excel
  • Prepare tools and files for data entry
  • Create and maintain data tracking logs and registers
  • Review and update data and files as needed
  • Review and resolve data discrepancies and errors
  • Communicate data issues to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Contribute to COVID-19 vaccine data collection, entry, and reporting workplans that includes timeline, responsible party, and indicators
  • Contribute to development of reports; ensure reports are complete, accurate, and submit on time
  • Provide data and information for routine reporting and presentation at meetings
  • Gather data through phone calls, data bases, emails, and other sources and ensure that information is accurately inputted into REDCap or other databases
  • Support development of data collection systems and support information sharing across workgroups and other stakeholders
  • Comply with data entry and management requirements, standard operating procedures
  • Additional duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications (mandatory):

  • BA and 2 years’ experience in data entry or equivalent work experience
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to Baltimore City communities and experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience working in community health or immunization preferred
  • Highly detail orientated, proactive, comfortable working under pressure and with minimal oversight
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams at one time
  • Highly motivated; good team player
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks and short deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; good presentation skills
  • Fluency in REDCap and Office 365, including Word, Excel, PPT, and other data entry tools
  • Proficient Spanish language skills preferred

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
