Position Overview:

Assistant Professors must have completed all requirements in a doctoral program at an accredited or internationally recognized institution in Educational/Instructional Psychology, Learning Sciences, Developmental Psychology, or other closely related fields. Teaching; research; departmental, college, and university service is expected. This position is a full-time, tenure-track position. **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to Tenure Track-Instructor.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

The primary responsibility of the Department of Educational Sciences, Foundations, and Research (ESFR) is the preparation of teacher candidates for PK12 settings. This position requires teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate level which may include foundations of education, developmental psychology, educational psychology, classroom management, educational assessment, and educational research. Professors are expected to engage in scholarly/creative activities, mentor students, and participate in service to the community, university, college, and department.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

An earned doctoral degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Knowledge of and experience within PK12 schools is essential with a minimum of 3 years of PK12 experience required. Experience and scholarship within the areas of trauma-informed and/or culturally relevant pedagogies are preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Strong classroom teaching skills and knowledge of instructional design are essential for this position, as is the ability to mentor students and to engage in research. Candidates must be able to work in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Should demonstrate commitment to working in an environment devoted to transformative learning, professional development, scholarly inquiry, and excellence in pedagogy.
