Position Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide financial accounting, budgeting and analytical services for the Department of Medical Microbiology & Immunology (MMI). This position functions under the general supervision of the Department Administrator. This position performs responsible accounting, and record keeping, requiring the application of established accounting principles and procedures for an assigned group of projects within the Department. Assigned projects include grants, contracts, gift funds, School funds and chargeback accounts.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A two-year degree in business management, finance, or accounting is preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimum of two years of experience is preferred. Relevant undergraduate work experience is acceptable.

Experience and passion for working as a member of a team, sharing common goals and mission.
Demonstrated commitment to courteous, sincere, and sensitive customer service, as well as patience, tolerance, and appreciation of diversity.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and work with diverse constituencies.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines regarding purchasing, accounting and travel.
Demonstrated, effective problem-solving skills.
Well-developed analytical, organization and time management skills. Ability to correctly prioritize multiple responsibilities to ensure all tasks are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
Experience providing technical assistance to diverse audiences with a broad range of accounting backgrounds.
Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, ability to use a computer and software to create complex databases, spreadsheets and reports.
