The position is associated with research activities pertaining to health equity and cancer disparities research. Overall research projects are related to addressing cancer prevention and control in socio-economically disadvantaged populations, racial/ethnic subgroups and other groups that bear disproportionate cancer burden in the US and the Commonwealth of Virginia. The primary activities will be to assist with development of intervention materials and assisting with manuscript and grant writing components. Other exemplar activities may include, the completion of general research related tasks such preparation of IRB documents, consenting and interviewing participants, developing intervention materials, transcribing interviews, and coordinating information between study sites.

Required Qualifications

Candidates will need to have a Master’s Degree in Public Health or closely related fields (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Epidemiology).
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. A writing sample will be requested.
Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
Previous interactions/communications with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Experience working both independently and collaboratively in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior research, academic writing, management, breast cancer knowledge and biostatistics experience,
