Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

•Coordinate and lead field research activities at the University of Michigan Biological Station
•Conduct field and laboratory research activities associated with the quantification of forest carbon pools and fluxes
•Manage the fortedata package as new data become available: https://fortexperiment.github.io/fortedata/
•Support the development of research products, including related publications.

This is a restricted position. The employee understands that the continuation of this position depends on the continuation of grant funding.

Minimum Hiring Standards

•Master’s degree or equivalent in biology, with an emphasis on forest ecology
•Familiarity and experience with primary field methods for the measurement and analysis of forest carbon pools and fluxes
•Data analysis skills and programming experience in R
•Summer residence at the University of Michigan Biological Station, Pellston, MI, and periodic travel during the academic year in support of research activities
•Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU .

Preferred Hiring Standards

•Demonstration of published work related to the carbon cycling of temperate forests
•At least a year of experience conducting field and laboratory research
•Prior experience advising/supervising undergraduate research collaborators

Required Licenses/ Certifications Anticipated Hiring Range $35,000 to $42,000 Application Process/Additional Information
