The English Department at the University of Indianapolis seeks applications for an Instructor in English. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track position to begin August 2021, renewable annually.

The successful candidate will teach English Composition, Applied English, and Business and Technical Writing as well as practical English courses, and will teach through our partnership program with the NingboTech University in Ningbo, People’s Republic of China. Instruction will be remote in fall 2021, but when travel is permitted, this instructor will teach at the Ningbo Tech campus. The candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching with English language learners. All faculty teach 24-25 hours per academic year.

Required qualifications: MA in English or a closely related field (with a minimum of 18 hours of graduate classes in English); experience teaching English Composition.

Desirable additional qualifications: TESOL, L2 writing, and professional writing; experience living and teaching abroad; some knowledge of Chinese (helpful, but not required).

Candidates must provide documentation verifying the ability to be employed in the United States and to obtain legal authorization to work in China. In addition to a salary, there will be a per diem, travel expenses and the provision for residence while in China.
