Job Summary

The Department of Political Science at Auburn University invites applicants for the position of Student Services Coordinator.
The primary function of the position is to provide administrative and advising support for the Master of Public Administration ( MPA ) program, Master of Community Planning ( MCP ) program, and the PhD in Public Administration and Policy program. The Position provides advising support for the MPA and MCP programs.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: assisting and advising prospective and current students; serving as a liaison with the Auburn University Graduate School as it relates to academic advising and matriculation of graduate students; creating and maintaining relevant, accurate, and accessible databases of program and student records and statistics; assisting faculty with accreditation data gathering, reporting, and record keeping; assisting with planning and executing course and room scheduling for graduate programs; scheduling orientations, seminars, award ceremonies; preparing graduate applications for faculty review and inputting admissions decisions; preparing hiring paperwork for Graduate Teaching Assistants; monitoring budgets to ensure that expenses are in line with projections for different program areas; and preparing, reviewing, and disseminating a variety of communications and information materials through various media

Level I: Earned Bachelor’s degree in a discipline appropriate to the position with no experience. Salary range: $31,300 – $52,100

Level II: Bachelor’s degree in discipline appropriate to position plus 2 years experience in academic and student support. Salary range: $35,000 – $58,400

Level III : Bachelors degree in discipline appropriate to position plus 4 years experience in academic and student support. Salary range: $39,300 – $65,500

Earned Master’s degree in disciplines listed above and 2 to 5 years of experience in academic and student support; experience at a university or college working with students and/or student organizations; working knowledge of basic university information systems; familiarity with Canvas, Degree Works, Banner (Self-Serve and Admin), Apply Yourself, AdAstra; Microsoft Office Suite of Applications; basic statistical analysis skills and familiarity with Qualtrics; knowledge of relevant academic programs; excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; and ability to perform complex assignments.
