Summary:
The Engineering Department (https://uvu.edu/engineering/) at Utah Valley University invites applications for a faculty lecturer position in Electrical Engineering to begin Fall 2021. The successful candidate will hold a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field and have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising, and laboratory development. Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate electrical engineering courses and laboratories. Will teach students to understand and appreciate electrical engineering topics. Design laboratory courses and prepare laboratory instructional materials. Cultivate a student-centered learning environment, and help students succeed. Assess teaching results and apply results to improve courses, laboratories, curriculum, and teaching effectiveness. Coordinate and participate in recruitment activities for the Department. Applicant should submit a letter of application addressing qualifications along with a resume, and names, telephone numbers, and email addresses of three references.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering, or closely related areas required. Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, advising, and course and laboratory development.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques, student management, motivation, evaluation and assessment of instruction, curriculum development, program development and evaluation, current trends in technical education, cooperative work experience programs, and student recruitment.
  • Skills in interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making.
  • Skills in presentation of course materials and learning experiences.
  • Expertise in teaching subjects related to general electrical engineering topics.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and evaluate students.
  • Ability to deal with the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly growing and changing institution.
  • Experience in developing laboratory experiments and teaching laboratory courses.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
