About the Job:
Applications are invited for a McKnight Foundation sponsored postdoctoral associate (job code 9546) in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department (MIE) in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering (SCSE) at University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). The position may be renewed for up to two years based on performance and availability of funding. This is a 12-month teaching and research position beginning July 1, 2021 or later with teaching duties (2 courses annually) in the MIE department or other departments depending on candidate qualifications and need. The remainder of the time will be engaged in research, with Dr. Turuna Seecharan, in the areas of, Sustainable Transportation, Human Behavior and Data Science, and Social and Economic Sciences.
Teaching (50%): Teach two courses annually in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering or other departments depending on qualifications. Develop course content as needed.
Research (50%): Participate in on-going research projects on gamification and eco-driving and sustainable transportation. Co-author and present research papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Co-author grant proposals to internal and external agencies. Participate in collaborative meetings with internal and external faculty members. Supervise undergraduate and Master’s students.
- An earned doctorate degree from a regionally accredited university in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Management Sciences or any relevant field
- Solid background in human dimensions in engineering applications, data analytics, and social and behavioral sciences.
- Experience using Shiny from Rstudio
- Highly motivated team player, passionate about teaching, fluent in English with good writing skills.
- Experience in driver behavior research and/or decision sciences.
