Assistant/Associate Professor of Health Sciences

Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for a tenure-track, faculty position within the Health Sciences department to start August 1, 2021. The position will encompass teaching, student advisement, service and scholarly work supporting the Bachelor of Science students in Health Sciences. The rapidly expanding Health Sciences department continues to grow. The department offers a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and a minor in Healthcare Advocacy and Navigation.

Primary responsibilities include:

  1. Teaching duties will be established in consultation with the chair of Health Sciences department, and the Dean of Health Professions & Education.
  2. Advise Health Sciences students regarding their core and major related courses and degree evaluation status.
  3. Must be available to teach day and evening courses both within a ground and on-line format. Must have excellent interpersonal organizational and communication skills. Commitment to high professional standards. Ability to use technology as a teaching and learning tool.
  4. Assist Chair with providing input and compiling information with regards to program evaluation, annual goal reports, and assessment data.
  5. Participate in creative and professional accomplishments including scholarly publications.
  6. Participate in departmental, school and College meetings and provides service to department, school, college and community.
  7. Participate in curriculum development, represent the Health Sciences department on college committees and support community development.
  8. Position requires limited travel.

Qualifications:

• Earned terminal doctorial degree (Ph.D., Ed.D, and/or D.Sc.) in Public Health, Health Education, Health Care Navigation and Advocacy, or closely related fields. Professional doctoral degree holders (in health-related fields) will be considered based on overall experience and qualifications.

• Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Public Health, Clinical Research, Patient Advocacy, Social Work, or Kinesiology.

• Demonstrated ability to develop relationships in the local, state, and national communities advancing Health Studies, the allied health professions, and the School of Health Professions and Education at Utica College.

• Teaching experience in a health-related area at an accredited institution in the United States preferred.

• History and evidence of scholarly productivity preferred.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills needed. Candidate must be a strong team player with the ability to network in the local community and beyond.
