Summary

The Department of Radiology, Neuroimaging Research Group (NrRG) and Division of Neuroradiology is located at Texas Children's Hospital, in the Texas Medical Center. Our research mission is to improve the ability to diagnose pediatric neurologic diseases and to advance our understanding of how diseases affect the brain including but not limited to malformative, disruptive and destructive pathologies. We also hope to use neuroimaging to track objective measurable indicators (quantitative metrics) that predict neurodevelopment, cognition and behavior in children. The ideal candidate for the Research Associate position will have attained their degree in Medicine or Neurosciences and posses a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant or Post Doctoral student with functional competencies in research methodologies, new technological development and delivery, and demonstrate the ability to publish with the aim to convey research findings in a constructive and practical manner.The Research Associate will assist physicians in reviewing data from various types of brain scans, including anatomical and functional data extracted from advanced CT and MRI studies to diagnose, guide and monitor treatment options of diseases affecting the central and peripheral nervous system in children.

Job Duties
  • Performs complex research of an advanced nature under the general direction of physician scientists.
  • Develops research techniques and performs applications required for specific research projects.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Analyzes and interprets data.
  • Documents results of analysis and reports to physician scientists.
  • Compiles contributions in writing, and submits project results for publication.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field. Experience in lieu of degree will not be accepted.
  • Three years of relevant experience typically as a Research Assistant, Research Technician or Postdoctoral Fellow/Associate.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree in Neurosciences or Medicine.
  • Prior experience in neurological research of children with various brain injuries disorders is highly desirable.
  • Experience with EPIC and PACS systems.
  • Advanced MRI Postprocessing experience.
