The Position
The Custodian position at Bates College is responsible for the general appearance and cleanliness of assigned areas and building, including housekeeping services for student residences. This position includes both routine work such as waste removal, such as dusting, mopping, and vacuuming floor surfaces, cleaning restrooms, restocking consumables and non-routine work such as window and wall washing, snow shoveling and sanding of walks, steps and porches.
This is a full time, full year position.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in operating mechanical cleaning equipment required.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the conduct of the job.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and building occupants.
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength.
- Previous custodial services experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal/State mandated programs preferred.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical is required.
- Successful completion of a background check required.
