Job Summary/Basic Function
The Custodial Work Supervisor performs direct supervision of custodial employees in
maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings, offices, classrooms, fitness centers, laboratories, furnishings, and equipment as well as building entrances and exterior walkways. The Custodial Work Supervisor is also responsible for training new employees in proper custodial procedures for the use of manually operated tools, electrically powered machines, cleaning compounds, solvents, and chemicals. The Custodial Work Supervisor
represents the Facilities Management Department by professionally and thoroughly
addressing customer complaints.
This position is designated an essential employee position. Employee is expected to report to work during their designated shift during emergency situations, university closures or delays. Work performed during these events will require duties typically outside normal job duties and functions such as shoveling snow or assisting in storm recovery activities.
Annual salary range is $37,722.00 – 45,275.00 plus comprehensive benefits, including tuition waiver for self/dependents.

Required Qualifications
- Two years of experience performing custodial work or one year
as a Custodial
Worker 2, lead worker. - Knowledge of the materials, methods, equipment, and practices
used in related
custodial operations such as floor care, restroom service, trash and recycling
collection and disposal, window washing, snow removal, event set ups, dusting,
mopping, etc. - Knowledge of safe, aseptic cleaning, sanitation, and custodial
quality assurance
procedures. - Knowledge of the operation of housekeeping equipment such as: vacuum cleaners, rotos, burnishers, extractors and auto scrubbers.
- Ability to read and understand written directives,
instructions, procedural manuals,
warning and special handling labels and safety precautions at the level of a high
school graduate or equivalent. Ability to convey this information to staff. - Ability to manage and train staff.

Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of supervisory experience.
- Experience in a union environment
- Bilingual speaking and writing ability
- Diversity of experience – not isolated to one industry (hotel, residential, healthcare)
- Membership in professional trade organization
