Job Summary:
The Director of Financial Reporting/Internal Controls, under the direction of the CFO is responsible for assisting with the management of the fiscal functions of the University in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, Governmental Accounting Standards Board, and other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices within public higher education institutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluates the effectiveness of internal controls at the University and implements changes in consultation with the CFO ;
Coordinates the external audits of the University;
Prepares financial statements and footnotes for auditors and other interested parties as assigned;
Manages financial accounting and reporting for the University;
Provides timely and accurate analysis of financial reports;
Enhances and/or develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures by way of systems and processes that will improve overall operations, efficiency and effectiveness;
Assists in efforts to upgrade and improve the software system finance module as needed;
Provides timely and accurate reconciliation of University bank accounts, investment accounts, and other balance sheet activity;
Assists in developing and implementing procedures to manage the University cash flow.
Represents the CFO and acts on the CFO’s behalf as needed;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong oral and written communications skills
Knowledge of computer and word processing/database/spreadsheet software
High level of customer service skills, including strong interpersonal skill
Some knowledge of Banner System a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications: CPA, higher education experience.
