Position Summary

The University at Buffalo Police Department seeks Staff Assistant (in-house title Fleet Manager) to manage fleet repair and maintenance and provide support with equipment needs within the department and spanning over three (3) campuses. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Fleet management including ATV’s and other specialized vehicles and equipment utilized by the department including:
– Maintaining an active role in the procurement of police equipment and installation of same.
– Overseeing mechanical and auto body repairs.
– Working with vehicle and equipment manufacturers, repair shops, and parts vendors.
– Working with vendors concerning warranty repairs and billing.
– Maintaining computerized vehicle equipment records.
– Managing an annual budget for equipment and supplies.

• Collaborates with the Equipment Specialist on the purchase, installation and maintenance of emergency equipment.
• Provides support for the yearly patrol vehicle purchase, delivery and installation of emergency equipment and ongoing maintenance
• Assists with the installation and maintenance of university-wide security camera, alarm and card reader systems as needed.

All duties listed above occur in an 24/7 environment, therefore, as part of your professional obligation working extended hours, holidays and varied hours may be required. Criminal background check required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Valid Driver’s License or candidate must demonstrate capacity to meet the transportation requirements of the position
• High degree of professionalism, excellent written and verbal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 or more years of relevant work experience
