About the Position:

The College of Business and Economics (CBE) is committed to the guiding themes of program quality, balancing theory and practice and expanding our outreach and visibility. We leverage the diversity and entrepreneurial spirit of Southern California to produce globally-aware business leaders through innovative teaching and high-quality applied research. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Dean, Community Engagement and Faculty/Staff Development. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Associate Dean, Community Engagement and Faculty/Staff Development works with the Dean and Associate Dean, Academic Programs and Student Success, on leading Centers of Excellence in the college to build and grow strong relationships with business communities and creating opportunities for students and faculty work with business communities. The Associate Dean shall work with the college research committee, and data analyst to update/maintain and audit the implementation of college research assign time policy. The Associate Dean shall serve as the Dean's designee for any lecturer reviews for the college. The Associate Dean works with department chairs in managing department staff members and manage college's annual award process. The Associate Dean shall lead the effort in promoting equity and inclusion mindset and supporting cultural and global competency through faculty/staff development activities. The Associate Dean shall work together with the Dean and the other Associate Dean to lead the strategic planning process and in executing strategic plan and create annual reports to maintain and assess the progress of the strategic plan. The Associate Dean collaborates to lead the faculty in research related activities and in seeking external funding for scholarship. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Earned doctorate from an accredited institution or appropriate terminal degree; qualification for a faculty appointment in an area that supports the college’s mission and goals; substantial administrative experience as an associate dean, department chair, progressive higher education management experience, or senior administrator position. Capable of implementing strategic planning, policy development, budget oversight, effective leadership, supervision, and management of faculty and staff personnel, collegial collaboration as a member of an academic administrative team; a record of support for faculty research and creative activity, external stakeholder engagement and partnership development; an administrative experience working with programs serving a student population that is diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, language, country of origin, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, and learning styles; the capacity to understand and implement the University's mission and goals in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Significant experience solving a variety of complex, fiscal/budgetary, human resources, and organizational management problems in an accredited institution of higher learning of similarly size and complexity to CSU Fullerton. Expertise in interpersonal skills and relationship development. Expertise in local and global business development. Successful experience in making programmatic changes to chance the overall mission of a college or equivalent organization. Has innovative thinking and to support cultural and global competency development. Demonstrated experience leading organizational change. Demonstrated, documented, successful generation of external funds through a variety of means (e.g. grants, 3rd party partnerships). Comprehensive knowledge of each academic and program area of the College, and its strategic position for growth within the university and the region.
