The Department of Architecture at Texas A&M University invites applications for an Environmental Modeling and Simulation cluster hire as a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor with research and teaching interests in robotics, environmental modeling, and simulation. This full-time faculty position has an expected start date of the fall semester of 2021.

This position is part of a multidisciplinary, research-oriented, experiment-based cluster program between the Department of Architecture and the Department of Visualization that lays at the intersection of data-driven design, computer science, material research, and contemporary built environmental practice. The department expects candidates to have an established research agenda in computational design, with a specialization such as architectural geometry, simulation, robotics, computational fabrication, parametric modeling, augmented reality, visual computing, and immersive media/virtual reality.

The successful candidate will maintain a creative or scholarly inquiry with an active, contemporary focus aligned with the analysis, abstraction, and implementation of design and construction principles. Successful candidates should have a research-oriented doctorate in architecture, visualization, computer graphics, or related fields and possess built or creative work appropriate to their field of expertise.

Qualifications

Terminal degree in closely related field. The successful candidate will maintain a creative or scholarly inquiry with an active, contemporary focus aligned with the analysis, abstraction, and implementation of design and construction principles. Successful candidates should have a research-oriented doctorate in architecture, visualization, computer graphics, or related fields and possess built or creative work appropriate to their field of expertise. Additionally, the departments expect the candidate to be qualified to:

  • teach courses related to research interests and design that are integral to the degree programs offered by the departments,
  • mentor undergraduate and graduate research,
  • participate as a chair or committee member on masters’ final studies, masters’ thesis, and doctoral dissertations,
  • provide service to the public and the professions associated with the departments, and
  • contribute to governance and administration of the departments.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications for all candidates.
