Humanities: Lecturer, non-tenure-track, College of General Studies, Boston University. Two-year position in an undergraduate interdisciplinary program with the possibility of renewal to a multi-year contract. Ph.D. in a humanities field (especially literature and the arts) and teaching experience at the college level required. Employment begins in the fall of 2021 and the teaching assignment begins in January, 2022. The assignment will be teaching courses in our first-year program: the spring semester course (HU 103: Literature and Art from the Ancient World to the Enlightenment) at our Boston campus and the summer semester course (HU 104: Literature and Art from the Industrial Revolution to the Digital Revolution) at our campus in London, U.K. Teaching in both Boston and London will be a requirement, along with working alongside faculty from other departments in integrating courses according to a team model. We seek applicants who have broad and diverse knowledge of literature and the arts, an interest in developing pedagogies that encourage full participation, as well as experience in the teaching of the humanities. Possible future assignments may include teaching courses in the sophomore year program. (Course descriptions may be found at bu.edu/academics/cgs/courses/humanities/). We are especially interested in candidates whose research, teaching and/or service has prepared them to contribute to engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse audiences in higher education, and particularly in the humanities.
