The Associate Director for Teaching and Learning will:  work with MIT educators (faculty, teaching assistants, and other instructional staff) to support teaching and learning through the implementation of research-based practices and pedagogies via workshops, individual consultations, and classroom observations; develop and collaborate on multiscale initiatives to promote equitable and inclusive teaching practices and learning environments; develop multimedia resources for MIT educators highlighting evidence-based classroom practices and findings from the learning sciences; design workshops and programming to meet articulated and perceived needs of the MIT teaching community; provide expert guidance on issues related to learning and teaching; monitor current developments in higher education STEM teaching and learning; serve as an instructor in and contribute to ongoing development of the Teaching + Learning Lab's (TLL) certificate programs for graduate students and postdocs; collaborate with others in TLL to support and co-facilitate regular TA training; and collaborate with TLL’s associate directors for assessment and evaluation in studies related to the effectiveness of pedagogy, curriculum, and education technology.

REQUIRED: a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in an appropriate field such as engineering education, science education, or a STEM discipline; at least five years of experience in educational development or a related field; demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty; experience in college-level teaching; demonstrated knowledge of the issues, best practices, current research, and innovations in STEM higher education, including those related to academic belonging and inclusion; ability to work collaboratively, listen carefully, and communicate tactfully; excellent writing and presentation skills; and the ability to work in a high pressure environment with minimal supervision.
