Position Summary:

Under general supervision of a Human Resources Specialist, this position will function as a Human Resources Coordinator in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) within CALS Human Resources.

This position works in a team environment to support the human resources, payroll, and benefits needs of departments/units/programs and employees/appointees. The position: A) Coordinates and administers the recruitment, staffing, classification, and employment life cycle processes for all employee categories; B) Coordinates and administers payroll and benefit processes for departments/units/programs and employees, providing assistance with related functions; and C) Provides administrative support for general human resources and payroll related functions, compliance monitoring, project planning and implementation, training, and other related human resources/payroll needs.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-Ability to manage multiple tasks, plan, establish priorities, and organize varied and complex tasks.
-Effective oral, written, and non-verbal communication skills.
-Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a variety of people in a variety of situations.
-Knowledge of or ability to learn and apply human resources and payroll/benefit principles and practices, including campus policies and procedures.
-Excellent customer service skills which include patience, attentiveness, clarity, as well as being timely, responsive, intuitive, positive, calm, helpful; is able to listen and checks for understanding.
-Knowledge of or ability to learn and apply UW specific information software management programs such as JEMS, TREMS, and Human Resources Information System applications.
-Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database applications. Knowledge of or ability to learn WordPress and campus KnowledgeBase (KB) platform.
-Skills in basic mathematical computations.
-Knowledge of or ability to learn and apply budget and fiscal procedures.
-Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail in an environment where distractions may occur and multi-tasking is often required.
-Ability to manage responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

A criminal background check will be conducted. A probationary period will be required for this position.

Monday through Friday, 7:45am - 4:30pm
